MINORITY ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT(MED) WEEK 2009
As an integral part of the MBDA globalization support, the “Access to Global Economy – China” workshop will be implemented for the first time in the 2009 Chicago Minority Enterprise Development (MED) week on August 13, 2009. The globalization workshop consists of two sessions:
1. Morning: Access to the Global Economy-China Seminar.

2. Afternoon: Partnership Forum.
Date: Thursday, August 13, 2009 Time: 1:00 pm - 5:00pm Meeting Room: Regency Ballroom B (West Tower-Lower Level)
Minority business owners who reside in the U.S. will have the opportunity to meet with CEO's from China or their representatives in a match-making forum. This invitation-only event will be tied to events held throughout the year designed to provide MBE's with a high level overview of international business etiquettes and the basic fundamentals of securing business overseas. China business experts responsible for bringing in the Chinese CEOs or their authorized representatives will be on hand to provide business owners with current contract and partnership opportunities. (Invitation Only - must complete the survey attached)
Currently over 40 Chinese small and medium size companies will be here or represented by their marketing representatives. Please review this long list and proceed to select the top five companies you are interested meeting at the partnership forum. A summary of the American companies will be provided to them for similar purpose. There will be also time allowed for real time networking:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION - MBDA's GLOBAL SUPPORT SERVICES
MBDA’s objective is to provide access to the global economy for minority business enterprises (MBEs). In 2009, the Chicago Network Enterprise Center is making a special effort to provide support for MBEs in expanding their corporate strategy and international business development goals through one-on one sessions and upcomming events. Details are listed below:
1. PREPARATION – Develop a global strategy that integrates the international business objectives into the overall company strategy. Educate the leadership team in the business culture of the international target markets. Identify potential partners in the local markets.
2. ORIENTATION – Travel to the target international market and experience the culture. Meet with potential partners. Study market assumptions locally. Practice local business networking and identify potential business and cultural barrier.
3. IMPLEMENTATION – Identify key personnel to manage the globalization projects. Recruit staff or establish partnership with local companies that can implementation your company strategy. Establish a communication process that integrates into your company operations.
